-Shipping Name Origin

"InterpolShipping" has been used to describe two different ships by two different Pokémon fan communities. It was initially coined sometime between 18 January 2009[Notes 1] and 07 February 2010[Notes 2] as the ship name for Looker/Koya, a character from the Pokémon Special manga. Both are members of Interpol, thus the name. This is considered their official ship name on the Neverending Romance ship name list, ran by members of the Bulbagarden forum. In 2016, due to several factors, the name was used by Looker/Nanu shippers for the pairing on social media, with many not knowing it wasn't considered their "official" name until 2017.[1]

Around the same time, "PoliceShipping" was coined for for Looker/Nanu for Neverending Romance, sometime between 18 February[Notes 3] and 31 December 2016.[Notes 4] The pairing did not become added to the list until 31 December, long after many began shipping them. A little after the pairing became added to the list, on 09 January, the discrepancy was brought to the attention of the list moderator[2], though the situation didn't end up changing. As of 2025, the list has PoliceShipping as Looker/Nanu's ship name, with both being used by fans to label the ship.

  • Storm by nintendo6664, Archived version (2017), Looker finds a Pokemon in need during a bout of bad weather. He goes to his old partner for help. Not rated.
  • KsLuC-0957 by WyattM, Archived version (2016-17), Before they became the Kahunacop of Ula'ula and the International Police's Master of Disguise, 000 and 100kr were vaguely incompetent novice Global IP agents that somehow managed to screw up a simple data recon mission in Lumiose City. It's probably related to 000's less-than-desirable crush on his coworker clouding the rest of his reasoning. Or perhaps it's related to the fact he hasn't outgrown being cocky yet. Or perhaps 100kr should have been the team lead. Rating to be on the safe side for themes, 000's mouth, and mild violence. Rated Mature.
