Imp is a term that was used by some Star Wars fans in the 1980 and 1990s to describe members of the Imperial Army, or less common, fans who identified with the "Imperials."
"Imps" and "Impie" were also used.
The word is always capitalized.
Examples of Use
- "I'm verbally taken apart by the rebel costumed fen. Cries of "Dirty Impie scum!" and the like. Of course, that's in fun (theirs, not mine), but it happens out of costume, too." How can you like so-and- so?" I hear them cry... well, kiddo, easy!" [1]
- "Saren is, in fact, a real feline. She actually lives with the editor of this zine and other fanzines, and has an Imp in residence who is an unemployed artist." [2]
- "Anyone who would call anyone else an "Impie-lover" in tones of disgust ought to be taken out and shot. It smacks too closely of other similar epithets ("Commie-lover," for one — you get my drift) and for the same reasons. You can't lump everyone who happens to be in the same governmental/geographic area under the same umbrella. It is possible to be an honorable person in a society without honor." [3]
- "21 years after ROTJ. Luke gets a pair of half-Corellian princes to train as Jedi Knights. and a former Imp governor has designs on Alliance territory -- and Princess Leia." [4]
- "I also like the interplay between Luke and General Matte. The ex-Imp was a very cool customer, sizing up Luke's predicament accurately." [5]
- "Very entertaining to see how an Imperial would react to a Jedi, after all the Imp propaganda. I liked the mature, compassionate, brilliant Luke and the honorable Imperial. The background, with the warring Imp factions, looks like a promising universe for further exciting stories!" [6]
- "My lovely Corellian a psychokiller Imp spy?! Never in a million years!" [7]
- "I participated in the Blaster Battle for the first time (on the Imp side, of course); Dan and I suited up as stormtroopers and had various adventures in the halls and stairwells. Long periods of sneaking and waiting interspersed with wild stampedes ("Run away! Run away!"). When it was all over and we were driving home, I felt so enriched, like Threepio after an oil bath." [8]
