Harry Potter's Realm of Wizardry, also known as The Realm or HP Realm, was an early Harry Potter fansite and fanwork archive.
The site was created in 1999 by Gypsy, who is also known for posting the earliest known Harry Potter fanfic at FanFiction.net.[1] The Realm may have been the first Harry Potter fanfiction archive.[2]
The site was originally hosted on Angelfire[3] and GeoCities[4] before acquiring its own domain.
The site also had a mailing list called Harry_Potter, started by Gypsy in July 1999 on ONElist.[5] It can still be found at Yahoo! Groups but has been overrun with spam.
A fan, Flourish Klink, wrote in the early 2000s:
The first Harry Potter site was the Realm, founded in the fall of 1999. And there were authors, and it was good. This website was run by one person, Gypsy, but this task is extremely large; therefore, the site's fanfiction archive has become less and less the center of fanfiction activities. This site was the first Harry Potter fanfiction site, and was the typical fan-run HP fanfic site of the time: small, designed in an amateurish way, and with a small community of teenaged authors. Another similar site of this time was alohomora.com (now defunct). [6]
