Gon Freecss is the protagonist of the shounen manga and anime series Hunter x Hunter by Yoshihiro Togashi.

Canon

Gon Freecss is an aspiring Hunter, who is on a journey to catch up to his legendary Hunter father, Ging Freecess, who left him when he was very young. He meets Kurapika and Leorio Paladiknight during the Hunter Examination and becomes best friends with Killua Zoldyck.

Though extremely powerful and naturally talented, Gon is also very naive and simple-minded. Not to say he is unintelligent, but rather that his pure and straightforward ideals paired with his stubbornness tend to cause (and later resolve) conflict. He is willing to help anyone in trouble, especially people he considers his friends. His curious and innocent personality often frustrates others, but these characteristics are also what makes him attract people.

Gon is an enhancer-type nen user, and he often fights with brute force (aka his fists or his fishing rod). He develops the Jajanken (Rock, Paper, Scissors) nen technique.
