Galactic Traveler is a Star Trek: TOS zine of fiction and illustrations.
According to the first two issues, the zine was to be released every two months, but it is unknown how many were actually published.
Issue 1
Galactic Traveler 1 was published in 1978 and contains 24 pages.
The art is by Geno Burrell, Kathi Lynn Higley, Steve Keely, C.P. McGraw, Chuck Raue and Rob Richardson.
From the zine:
All contributions are preferably typed, so in that way there is a is a lot smaller margin for error. All contributions are subject to are subject to some editing, but as little as needed will be done. All artwork is to be done in black ink, whether it be felt-tip pen, ball-point pen, or India Ink, and each piece should be drawn on lineless paper.
From the editorial:
I hope that the layout,.of this issue isn't too bothersome for you folks. Along with using an offset printing method, the second issue may be printed reduced, and possibly be mailed in envelopes. Don't get me wrong; we are not trying to expand too fast.
But, we are having problems getting continual access to a xerox printing machine. This is one reason we want everyone to order the second issue now. The idea is to get demand to reach production.
[...]
Incidentally, starting with next issue, GT will have its first sponsor. You see, the idea is to get local businesses, or occasionally individuals, to sponsor an issue or so of the 'zine, and in turn the business will receive a free advertisement — a statement of sponsorship — in the table of contents page of the issue(s) they sponsor. We ask that the sponsors support us by giving $10 for each issue they sponsor. Thus far, it seems to be a pretty novel idea. We'll have to wait and see how it turns out.
