A 1977 Club Meeting Report
In this, our first club report, it will attempt to be made clearer your understanding and basic knowledge of the STAR TREK LIVES IN MOBILE (STLM) fan club.
First, let me say that STLM was formed in Spring, 1977. To date, we have over 90 people on roll, which, considering low earlier attendance figures, is not at all bad. STIM is a civic non-profit organization, whose purpose is to promote main-line science fiction, primarily through the visual medium.
STLM is centered around the STAR TREK world, with other types of sf also followed by the club members. Quite a few of the "regular" members are SPACE:1999 fans, as well as fans of STAR WARS, CLARKE, and TOLKIEN, to name a few. However, ALL sf fans are urged to attend.
Club dues are available to those who want them. Newly instated dues are $2.50 and $3.50, respectively, and each includes a membership card, a first-year membership list to local members, a "STAR TREK LIVES" pencil, and the rest goes to the members in the value of certain club publications This is the reason we have instated two different fees; the more expensive going for a longer period of time.
STLM has recently completed a 1+ year run of it's first publication, LORELEI SIGNAL. LORELEI SIGNAL was a very small club newsletter, which ran 11 issues, or some 78 pages. A noted progress was made with each issue We hope that a similar type of progress can be made with GALACTIC TRAVELER.
