Frame projects are when important scenes in media fandom are divided up into their component frames with frames being given to different artists who have freedom to create fanart in their preferred media so long as it resembles the frame assigned to them. Traditional art, digital art, or even more unconventional fancraft is possible. The final product is a fanvid which sequences together all the frames of the project.
The origin of the term Frame Project was likely the Our Frames Mean Love project (May 2023), which may be the first Frame Project.
