Fantasy Out of Hand is a Kirk/Spock story by Alexis Fegan Black.

It was published in the print zine First Time #4.

Summary

"Forced on shore leave by McCoy, Kirk spends the night alone, eventually realizing his desire for Spock."

Excerpt

What was it about Spock's company that made everything seem all right? Was it the Vulcan's dependability, the fact that Kirk knew he could rely on him in a crisis? No . . . there were plenty of reliable officers on the Enterprise. Those who weren't didn't last more than a week. It was more than that, more than just the fact that Spock was a good second-in-command. Was it because the Vulcan represented security? A stable friendship which didn't depend on social niceties and artificial masks? Well . . . that was part of it, Kirk knew. With Spock, he didn't have to constantly play the role of Captain Kirk. With Spock, he could relax, could curse at a faulty dilithium crystal or spout philosophy in the wee hours of the morning all without feeling that some form of social judgment was being passed in the Vulcan's mind.

Reactions and Reviews

1986

While the light-hearted tone and playfulness of this story may fool some readers, underneath is a very loving Kirk. The idea is very original and extremely well written, and I won't give the plot away. This must be read without prior knowledge.[1]

1995

This is a lovely story, of d fantasy of Kirk's which begins to come true at the end of the story. This sounds like something trite or overtly clever, but it was done really well.

Kirk is miserable on shore leave by himself, realizes he'd rather just be with Spock than anything else. Some of this story was so amusing. For instance, Kirk's idea that Spock probably thinks of him on shore leave with his fly open and his cock leading the way from whorehouse to whorehouse. And a very funny, and relevant, long conversation between Kirk and his cock.

One of Kirk's favorite fantasies since boyhood is about a Romulan woman (you know, pointed ears, dark, tall, lean...) and now this fantasy leads him someplace else, as you can imagine. This was done in an inventive and very sexy way.

Beautiful sex that fills Kirk with utter ecstasy and satisfaction as nothing else ever has.[2]

1996

This story left me mystified when I first read it I though! maybe it was some weird attempt at humor— after all having Kirk's cock talk to him is not your usual K/S scenario.

But, since it had been a while and I wanted to LOC it, I read it again. This time, I loved it. Maybe I was no longer surprised by the oddity of the talking cock and I was able to get with the story.

Kirk is in a hotel room on Rigel 11 and the air conditioning goes out. It's hot Kirk needs freedom. He communicates with Spock on the Enterprise and decides to stay. All of a sudden, Kirk's cock (I love saying that!) starts talking. It tells him to do something about it

Kirk fantasizes about a Romulan river-witch (closely resembling a certain Vulcan, of course) and then she's got this "twin-ridged jade erection" Oops.

Kirk finishes his fantasy by imagining Spock coming to him in the hotel room, Delicious writing as they get into bed

A slightly strange Gayle F drawing accompanying this story — it shows Kirk on his back being fucked by Spock, which is fine except it shows these disembodied and unexplained feet peaking out beneath them. Maybe it's a menage and we don't know!

Excellent sex: 'The eloquent organ filled him again, bringing with it a promise; and a single syllable which Kirk would remember forever whispered from Spock's lips. "Jim...."

Terrific ending as the fantasy and reality combine.[3]

1997

Cute interplay of Kirk and his cock, especially when he considers strangling the little beast.[4]
