The title is based on the Japanese idiom "夫婦喧嘩は犬も食わぬ - Fuufu genka wa inu mo kuwanu" which can be translated as "Even a dog doesn’t eat a husband-wife fight". It is generally understood to mean that married couples eventually make up and so a fight between them never lasts long enough for the dog to get a chance to eat it.
