Esper! is a Star Wars 75-page novel written by Cary A. Bucar and illustrated by Doug Drexler.
It was listed in the "proposed zines" section in Scuttlebutt #13 in 1979, and then in the "coming soon" section in Jundland Wastes #5/6 in November 1981, but wasn't actually published in 1983, an example of the patience and determination of fans.
From Media Monitor: "The Empire is using esper-talented subjects to track down members of the Rebel Alliance. One that is unwilling to turn her talents to Vader tries to escape and help the Rebellion."
Author's Note
This novel was the first serious work I ever attempted, and has only recently undergone a brushing up. Elaborated upon from a short story which first appeared in the now defunct fanzine, "HYPER SPACE", it has gone through numerous alterations, but still stayed basically the same. Despite the appearance of "THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK" I have refused to adjust the story to that framework, hoping that the readers will accept it for its worth. I would like to take this time to thank Lori and Gordon for agreeing to publish "ESPER", Doug for his excellent artwork, Debbie and Carol for their honest criticism s which made this a better story, and the readers for their patience in waiting so long.
