Empire Day was a Star Wars fan-gathering/convention in the UK.
There were at least eleven of them.
The ninth "Empire Day" was held June 14, 1998.
Regarding the 2001 one:
The Falcon Society will be holding another of their Empire Day's at Wolsey Hall in Cheshunt on Sunday 4 March 2001. Doors open at 11am and special guests at the event include Julian Glover (General Veers), Angus McInnes (Gold Leader "Dutch"), Kenny Baker (R2-D2), Warwick Davis (Wicket), Colin Skeaping (Mark Hamill's stunt double), Gary Kurtz (Producer Star Wars & ESB) and Ray Griffiths (Gonk Droid and Anakin's stand-in). There will also be Q&A and autograph sessions with the guests, dealers room, video room, competitions and a charity auction.
I am organising a meet-up at the event for the UK FF and members from both my own fanzine Delta Source and the Moons of Yavin Fan Club will also be attending. The full details are contained in the UK FF convention/meet-up planner thread, which can be found here: UK FF Convention Thread.

Con Report: IX
This was the third Falcon Society Empire Day that I have attended, and without a doubt the one that I have enjoyed the most. This time the venue was Wolsey Hall in Cheshunt, which was about a 3-hour train journey for me, but a well worthwhile one.
As usual most of the events centred on the main hall, and there were the usual dealers' room, display of original props from the films, the games room and the video room as well. There were also slide shows and talks organised during the day. I arrived earlier than I had expected, in fact just in time for the Questions & Answers session. There were some familiar faces amongst the guests - Warwick Davies and Gary Kurtz, and also some new ones as well. It was delightful to see Sheila Eraser and Stuart Freeborn there who both had amusing and interesting stories to tell.
The auction seemed to be a success, and I had to stop myself from bidding a couple of times, especially as some of the items went for nearly £100! Far more than I could afford!
The whole day was well organised, and the programme of events was both detailed and informative, although the 3-minute walk from the station was more like ten! I just kept following the crowds which proved to be a prudent idea! I managed to grab a few autographs before I left, but there was so much going on that I didn't have time to see everything. One of the highlights for me was the video room with some fresh footage. I particularly liked "Troops" and "The Return of the Ewok" featuring a very young-looking Warwick Davis. Brilliant fun.
The next Empire Day is being scheduled for Elstree Studios, and if you are not on the Falcon Society's mailing list I would certainly ensure that you are so that you can get along.
