Fandom
Eevee is a fan fave. Some fans consider it as one of the cutest pokémon from the first generation. It's recognizable to a lot of people, even if they don't know much about the franchise. Eevee's popularity is also high as he is able to evolve into many other Pokémon that are also fan favourites.
From Wikipedia:
Japanese fans of the series have coined November 21 as "Eevee Day" due the pronunciation being similar to Eevee's Japanese name Eievui.[1] Eevee Day has since been officially adopted by the Pokémon Company,[2][3] and was later made an official anniversary by the Japan Anniversary Association.[3][4] Eevee has been cited as a "fan favorite" Pokémon and a franchise staple due to its popularity.[5]
Game developer Junichi Masuda said that Eevee was chosen as one of the two representative mascots for the Generation I remakes Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! and Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! because of its popularity in fan art.[6][7]
Eevee's evolutions

Eevee's versatility in terms of evolutions is what makes it unique. Fans call them "Eeveelutions". Every time a new generation of games is about to come out, fans speculate on whether there will be new Eevee evolutions. In the first generation, there were only three, Vaporeon (Water), Jolteon (Electric), and Flareon (Fire). In the second generation they introduced Espeon (Psychic) and Umbreon (Dark). Not all generations of Pokemon games introduce new evolutions for Eevee, but not all types are covered yet. The last one was Sylveon, when the fairy type was introduced and immediately became a favourite.
Fan-made Eeveelutions
Many fanartists create their own Eevee evolutions with types that don't yet exist in the game, like steel or ghost. Before Glaceon (Ice) and Leafeon (Grass) were introduced, there were also many fanmade versions of said evolutions.
According to the 2024 Pokémon leaks a ninth, Flying-type Eeveelution was officially planned for the 2016 games Pokémon Sun and Moon, but scrapped due to similarities to a fan-made design.[8][7]
