Dream or Dream Sequence is a storytelling trope where the character in question has dreams (awake or asleep itself), where their deepest desires or fears are manifested.
Difference from "Flashback"
Flashback is when a past event is recalled by the character in question, like a memory being relived before their eyes.Therefore, it differs greatly from the dream trope, where the person imagines something that did not actually occur, or sometimes it anticipates something to come, as in a vision.
Used as a "What If
As a "safe" way to explore a difficult scenario...
