hazel (_das_hazel) is a fannish TikTok creator who started out making streaming videos of themselves playing Red Dead Redemption and of their cosplay – some early examples were from Resident Evil and Our Flag Means Death and crafting. Over time their videos also began to include reviews, discussions and meta of shows and fandoms; with Star Wars being a media and fandom that hazel returned to discuss in videos regularly.
Some videos were focused on ships, fanfic, and fandom topics like omegaverse, and as people asked questions about these things, and as discourse about fandom-related topics became more widespread on TikTok generally, hazel began to include more videos discussing these topics.
As certain types of fannish toxicity began to develop, such as the ship wars and actor harassment that took place in the Stranger Things fandom, hazel began to also discuss those aspects of fandom more often as well, moving into discussions around fandom etiquette, censorship, and toxic fandoms and behaviours.
In addition to continuing the wide range of fannish videos described above, he also semi-regularly stitches other videos where fandom related questions are asked or discourse is happening, providing his insight and perspective.
