Catherine Amber has been a known fan in Keeper of the Lost Cities communities since 2017. She originally joined the fandom via Goodreads clubs, where she published her first fanfiction, More Than Cognates. Later that year, she began editing the Keeper of the Lost Cities wiki, and in January 2018, she was made an administrator.[1] She was an administrator until August 2020, when she stepped down to being a content moderator.[2]
As of 2024, she has over 15 thousand edits made to the KotLC Wiki, making her one of the biggest contributors to its content. She piloted a variety of wiki improvements, including introducing a mentoring program to help new users integrate themselves into the community and learn skills like editing and coding. Many of the wiki's core features, like its editing policies and navigation systems, were majorly influenced by her.
How did your view of the wiki and/or staff change after becoming a mod?
Oh, interesting question! Well, my opinion on the staff didn't change because I pretty much WAS the staff when I became an administrator. All of the other administrators were barely active at the time, and they all became fully inactive not long after my appointment. So I built the team myself! But embarrassingly enough, I didn't anticipate just how deeply attached I would become to the wiki. Even after enough time has passed that most people don't know who I am, I see the wiki as sort of my baby.
