Question: as I put platform categories on meta, what should I do (if anything) with meta that is hosted/posted on sites such as Whoosh!, Symposium Blog, and Fanfic Symposium (and all the essays linked to "Fanfic Symposium")? They aren't really any of those platforms? --MPH (talk) 13:10, 17 February 2018 (UTC)
- Category:Meta on Fansites? There's a big difference in my mind at least between meta posted to a social media site and meta posted on a website that the fan has to code/maintain themselves. The Symposium Blog was in a weird space between Academic Commentary and fannish meta; the page itself is already covered with the category Academia, and any individual post I would call Academic Commentary.--aethel (talk) 19:48, 17 February 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, I see what you mean about Symposium Blog. I was thrown of by their own use of "meta" -- "posts that discuss both fannish meta topics and fannish perspectives on fan and media studies."
- So these would all be "Meta on Fansites" --
- A Letter to All the Fandoms I’ve Loved Before
- An open letter to due South fans
- An Open Letter to J.K. Rowling from Mugglenet and The Harry Potter Lexicon
- An Open Letter to the Anti-Slash People --MPH (talk) 20:21, 17 February 2018 (UTC)
- I think so? A Letter to All the Fandoms I’ve Loved Before was posted on the Mary Sue, which is a for-profit site, so I would list it under both meta and news media commentary.--aethel (talk) 23:17, 17 February 2018 (UTC)
