Category talk:Fan Artworks

The suggestion on the template page was to create an Artworks category, but should it be Category:Fanart instead to match Category:Fanfiction? It would be an easy fix.--aethel (talk) 23:04, 3 September 2017 (UTC)

Answering my own question: I'm not sure why the broader category is called Visual Art when it's about Fanart generally, so having Fanart be a separate category might be even more confusing.--aethel (talk) 23:20, 3 September 2017 (UTC)

I'm pro renaming. "Fan Artworks" sounds very unnatural to me, and Visual Art > Fanart would be consistent with Fiction Writing > Fanfiction. --sparc 07:00, 30 November 2017 (UTC)

I'm also pro. I'm not sure where the original "Artworks" suggestion came from, but it's not a term I've ever come across before, least of all in a fannish context. --enchantedsleeper 09:25, 07 December 2017 (UTC)

I don't think I've heard anyone in the fanartist community use "artworks" as an umbrella term to refer to fanart and fancomics. It's just not a term that's used. I'm in favor of renaming the Fan Artworks category to Fanart. (OTOH I think Visual Art can refer to gifs and edits that I would never refer to as fanart). -- Baycitybomber (talk) 10:44, 7 December 2017 (UTC)
