Standardization - Arrow or Arrowverse?
There seems to be two different names used for Arrow subcategories: Arrow X (e.g. Arrow Vids) and Arrowverse X (e.g. Arrowverse Characters). I'd like to diffuse this category, but some sort of standardization or reference guide for future editors would be helpful so that everyone is on the same page on what prefix to use. - Ah, this is like the Buffy vs Buffyverse categories, which also inspires lots of questions. First thing I noticed, is that the Flash and Legends of Tomorrow are subcategories of Arrow. That looks wrong to me. Arrow is one TV show, and the Arrowverse (or Flarrowverse) is the name of the shared universe. If folks are in agreement, I'd suggest renaming this category to Arrowverse, and creating a new category for the TV show Arrow. That might solve some of the issues, as the Arrow fanfiction and vids subcategories belong in the Arrow category, but not the Arrowverse category.
- Basically in the Arrowverse, there are a lot of crossover events, and IMO it does make sense to put all characters/ships into Arrowverse categories. As someone who was in the Arrowverse fandom, there is a LOT of overlap between the fandoms for these shows. Even if someone is more of a Flash fan than an Arrow fan, they could still use characters, settings and side pairings from Arrow when writing a Flash story. And many characters and ships have appeared on multiple shows.
- Now, I'm basing this suggestion on the organization of Buffyverse categories. It might be interesting to see if other shared universes use similar or different categorization on Fanlore --Auntags (talk) 21:05, 22 August 2022 (UTC)
Proposing New Category Structure
I was taking a look at this again, and the categories are actually a bit of a mess. Almost every TV show in the arrowverse is in multiple categories. So in the Flash category, there is the LoT and Vixen categories as well as the LoT and Vixen fandom pages.
I'd like to propose a new structure for these categories. I think we need a parent Arrowverse category, with all TV shows as subcategories in only that category. Every fandom page related to a TV show in the Arrowverse will only appear in the relevant TV show category, but some categories that are applicable to more than one show, can be in many. So something like that:
- Category:Arrowverse
- Category:Legends of Tomorrow
- Category:Vixen
- Category:Arrow
- Category:The Flash
- Category:Supergirl
- Category:Batwoman (TV series)
- Category:Constantine
I think this make it a lot easier for people to understand which properties are in the Arrowverse, and it would be easier to find pages of interest. Let me know what you think --Auntags (talk) 15:35, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
