Reactions and Reviews
1997
2016
The perfect early-series case-file story (it was written in 1995), told from the perspective of a small-town lawyer watching Mulder and Scully work a case. Like a real episode, but better.[2]
2022
This story is from the POV of one of the best and most fully-realized OCs I’ve ever read in fanfiction—and her presence provides a necessary lever, peeling Mulder and Scully apart and letting us see into their relationship, and serving as an avatar for the town that’s been unsettled by violent crime. Also, the fic continues past “catching the bad guy” into the trial and recovery period—something that neither fanon nor canon usually touches, and which is really interesting and makes it feel real.[3]
