Brian Laborn, mostly known by his cape name Grue, is a character in the webserial Worm.
Brief Canon
At the start of the story, co-leader of The Undersiders along with Lisa Wilbourn. He got into supervillainy working for Coil, both to make money and for help getting legal custody of his younger sister Aisha. Later takes more of a back-seat when Skitter joins and takes on leadership. Also because of All the Shit that happens in canon. Look see the wiki if you want a proper summary.
Dates Taylor during her tenure in the Undersiders, but she breaks it off before breaking with the Undersiders as a whole and joining the heroes. Later in the story it's mentioned that he's dating a cape who goes by Cozen.
He dies during Gold Morning.
Fandom
Not particularly popular in the fandom, perhaps even broadly (if mildly) disliked, but he has a few defenders.
Criticism of Wildbow's writing of black characters
TBH i think there's more about Sophia Hess and others, but I think I remember some about Brian as well.[1]
