Reactions and Reviews
Set several years after the show, Ray Vecchio has a run-in with the Mob. Fraser and Ray Kowalski come down from Canada to help. This story deals with some pretty heavy stuff--violence, PTSD--but what it's about is the slow, careful working out of everything that is fucked up, together, as a team. I really like the way the relationships build and come together, and I like that the story does pay attention to everyone's damage, not just Ray Vecchio's issues. It has a happy ending, but it doesn't wrap everything up perfectly.[1]
There was a time I was really into the OT3 of RayK/RayV/Fraser. And though I've moved onto a new obsession, I return again and again to this fic. This is a nice hurt/comfort recovery fic with flash backs of the trauma interspersed. I love the way the relationship is described, and how well the characters are written.I have had this fic sitting on a metaphorical shelf for a couple of years now. Which is odd, actually, because nearly every time I've been in a bad mood in the past two years, I've pulled this fic out for a read.
Another bit that draws me to this fic is it's treatment of scars and their meanings. Personally, I love scars because they're like physical memories of things and events. Not that I have or would scar myself intentionally, but I do treasure the ones that occur. It's rare to find a fic that espouses my feelings for scars as a treatment for trauma recovery, no less! Also, they have really hot and adorable sex.[2]
