Bertha is a member of Sinnoh's Elite Four from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. She is well-liked by fans, though not too many fanworks exist which primarily focus on her. She also makes appearances in Pokémon Masters, PokéAni and Pokéspe.

Many headcanon that a character from Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Charm, is her ancestor. The two look very similar and Charm also uses Ground-type Pokémon. Agatha could also be her relative. Charm is from Kanto, the same region as Agatha, and she also uses Ghost-type Pokémon. The most popular theory is that Charm is both their ancestors and that Agatha & Bertha are related.
Another headcanon is that Agatha and Bertha are twin sisters.
