Some Excerpts
The movie drew me to the show. I thought the movie was funny but wanted to see more so I looked up some fanfic. The characters the authors had written were so vastly different from what I'd seen on-screen, I had to buy Season 1 on DVD. The depth of Starsky and Hutch's relationship is what enthralled me.
Hutch's looks drew me in and Starsky's personality makes me smile. I love them both -- you can't have one without the other. And we can't have either without the Torino.
I started in 1999, writing very short 'should've been' outlines for various shows such as Renegade, Boy Meets World and Team Knight Rider. My first honest story was in the Nsync fandom, after I stumbled across a Hanson fanfic site. Once I knew I was not the only one who did this, I quickly began writing for The Sentinel and Young Hercules as well.
Beta's are more than just human spell-checkers, they can offer direction for your plot. They ask questions that need to be answered. Rewriting not always fun, but I've learned to trust thy beta. They really do know best.
I think I rode in on a tide of new authors over a year ago and I'd like to congratulate them for all their success. I know I've fallen out of this fandom but I'm clinging to it like a terrier -- no matter how many buddy-buddy cop shows there are, you can never replace Starsky and Hutch.
