Atlanta Fantasy Fair Awards were presented at Atlanta Fantasy Fair.
They were given for lifetime achievement in the fields of science fiction, fantasy, horror, comics, and related fields in any medium.
While the convention started a few years earlier, the awards were first given out in 1982.
Winners were required to be present at Atlanta Fantasy Fair to claim the award, or it would pass to the next choice.
Edward Knox created the physical statue/award. In a bit of irony, this sterling silver statuette of "Miss Fantasy Fair," with an elaborate headdress and a diamond in one eye was the only female there, as all of the winners were male.
