A Twist of Mind is a Dark Shadows novel by Lucille Staszak.
It was originally titled, "Sara Collins."
From an ad in Universal Translator #17: "Brain surgery frees Barnabas Collins from his vampire curse! He returns home and falls in love with Renae Desmond. They wed, and their union produces a daughter, Sarah Barnabette. Evil multiples in the images of Julia Hoffman, Maggie Evans, and Carolyn Stoddard -- or does it?"
Reactions and Reviews
A TWIST OF MIND (Formerly Sara Collins): This book will be a joint publication between Pandora Press and the author, Lucille Staszak, and will be available from Lucille for $4.25 [address redacted]. Quote from the flyer: "Brain surgery frees Barnabas from his curse. He returns to Collinwood, falls in love with Renae Desmond; they marry and have a daughter--Sara Bernabette. Evil multiplies: Is Renae Angelique reincarnated? Has Sara inherited the vampire curse? Are the 'jealous trio--Julia, Maggie and Carolyn--to blame?" [1]
A TWIST OF MIND by Lucille Staszak, with calligraphy by Barbara Fister-Liltz. This has one of the most original plots in any DS novel to come along, and I'm not going to reveal too much of it except that it is very deftly written, and throws some new lights on the characters of Barnabas and Julia. This is Part I of a two part novel; the second part will be available in 1982. Recommended. [2]
