Zanda Myrande (December 19, 1955 - July 24, 2019) was a renowned filker, prodigious author, excellent artist and musician, and utterly unconvinced of her own merits. She wrote (or co-wrote, depending on whether you listen to her or her semi-brother Soren) "Sam's Song", which has become an anthem in Euro-American filk, as well as a series of stories about the Nyronds, various fanfics about "Blake's 7", D&D, and other media memes. She was also known In the Far Isles Mediaeval Society as Andrew Lyng, an emissary from the court of Prester John.

Given a tune and half an hour she could produce a filk on (almost) any topic; given words, she could craft a tune; given a little time to study and an inspiration, she could pastiche most authors living or dead, and given a keyboard she would improvise material out of thin air (right up to symphonies). She was involved in filk publishing, and was one of the artists for On Filkey Moor #2.

She was inducted into the Filk Hall of Fame[1] in 2000,[2] the first European to be inducted. She won[3] two Pegasus Awards: in 2000 for Best Filk Song for Sam's Song, and in 2002 for Best Writer/Compooser, as well as being nominated a number of other times between 1994 and 2019.

Zanda published several books through Lulu.com.[4] Much of her music is available at her bandcamp page.[5]
