Xander in Africa works are Buffy the Vampire Slayer works set Post-Chosen, that focus on Xander Harris's time in Africa. In the Angel the Series' season 5 episode "Damage", Andrew Wells states that, "Xander's in Africa. He sent me an mbuna fish." This single line of dialogue is the jumping off point for Xander in Africa fics. Many writers headcanon that Xander is in Africa recruiting Slayers, and many works in this genre portray Xander as a Watcher, or a Watcher-in-Training. Stories employing this trope often feature a host of OCs and tend to be very Xander-centric.
