Wheels of Darkness and Other Stories is a slash Harry and Johnny 56-page anthology of stories, photocopied pictures of actors, and ads from gay men's magazines. Art is by TH and Ruth Kurz. Those who appear to have contributed clippings are LaS, NB and MWh.

They are sequels to Eileen Roy's novel Shooting Star.

Like most of the Harry and Johnny fanzines, it was published without the required pre-1989 copyright notices and may be in the public domain.

Contents

  • Wheels of Darkness by Eileen Roy and Frankie Jemison (early 1976) (a story about Bob, Richard and Sandy -- all "portrayed" by Robert Redford, Paul Newman, and Gary Sandy) (1)
  • Another Turn of the Wheel by Ruth Kurz (early 1976) (13)
  • Flu by Ruth Kurz (early 1976) (33)
  • The Kurz Curse by S. Soliste (about 1979) (An oddity for the Harry and Johnny series: while not slash this story is about Dave Starsky and Minnie Kaplan.) (38)

  • Kurzive Letters by S. Soliste (about 1979) (Two letters between Captain Dobey and Harry Callahan.) (43)

Fan Comments

Back in the H/J days a story was written called "The Kurz Curse" where Minnie in SH fandom got caught at the xerox machine copying an H/J story. It typified the awkward moments we've all suffered. My most recent was when my 11 year old grandson saw the copy of Hanky Panky I was xeroxing for a friend and asked, "Grandma, why do you like this dirty stuff?" I answered piously, "I don't think it's dirty to love somebody." But I don't think he was convinced. Ah me. [1]
