Watchmen Kinkmeme is an all-pairings kink meme for Watchmen fanfiction.[1]
History
In January 2020, it was announced that Watchmen Kinkmeme would be moving to the Archive of Our Own as an Open Doors Project[2].
First Kinkmeme
The first Watchmen kinkmeme was established September 9, 2008 on spam_monster's Livejournal. Some fic posted on the kinkmeme was reposted from plus4chan's /coq and /pco boards and was labeled as such.
Major themes of the first kinkmeme were Rule 63 versions of the main characters, Mothman/Dollar Bill, BDSM, high school and zombie AUs. Also popular were captcha prompted fic, fic based on the captcha system still in use at the time on LiveJournal.

Second Kinkmeme
The second Watchmen kinkmeme was established June 23, 2009. LiveJournal did away with captcha shortly after the establishment of the second kinkmeme, making captcha prompted fic obsolete.

The third Watchmen kinkmeme was established September 9, 2009, the one year anniversary of the first kinkmeme.

Fourth Kinkmeme
The fourth Watchmen kinkmeme was established January 8, 2010.

- Bringing Up Owlbabies by slipstreamborne (March 22, 2010) - the first time all the owlbbs are named and given personalities

The sixth Watchmen kinkmeme was established January 10, 2012. It was the first Watchmen kinkmeme to be simultaneously mirrored on Dreamwidth. Both versions were managed by spam_monster.

Seventh Kinkmeme
On December 13, 2013, the seventh Watchmen kinkmeme migrated to Dreamwidth by Sail (book_of_sail) due to the original being excessively spammed by bots. Sail was given mod powers by spam_monster over the old kinkmemes at the same time.
