The Moon Is Made of Green Cheese is a series of Harry Potter doujinshi by Shisinden.
The Moon Is Made of Green Cheese and The Moon Is Made of Green Cheese II were reprinted as Walking After Midnight in 2003. They also appear in the 2005 collection Moon Omelette.
The Moon is Made of Green Cheese
The Moon is Made of Green Cheese contains 48 pages and was published on December 29, 2001. It is primarily manga but contains 8 pages of novel.[1] It features the Remus/Sirius pairing. Reviews for this doujinshi include:
- "The inside art for this doujinshi isn't as good as some other Shisenden doujinshi. The cover is beautiful and the illustrations for the novel are also great. Unfortunately, the comic section has fairly sketchy art -- as if it were drawn in a hurry. That doesn't keep this from being a fairly enjoyable doujinshi. It's worth buying simply for the Sirius/Lupin & Harry interactions. There's a great scene where Harry walks in on Sirius & Lupin ... The look of horror on Sirius's face makes me laugh every time I see it."[2]
- "This doujinshi contains a yaoi story about Sirius and Lupin. Weather is pretty rough. It is thunderstorm. Sirius makes sure that Harry is sleeping and then visit Lupin's bedroom. Lupin is waiting for Sirius in his bed. Lupin asks Sirius whether Harry is already sleeping. Lupin and Sirius do not want Harry to know that they sometimes make love while Harry is sleeping. Sirius starts kissing and touching Lupin. Lupin is upset because he finds someone standing in his room. Harry comes Lupin's room because he is afraid of sleeping alone in his bedroom."[3]

The Moon is Made of Green Cheese II contains 40 pages and was published on April 29, 2002. It is primarily manga but contains 8 pages of novel. It features Remus/Sirius and Harry/Ron. Reviews of the doujinshi include:
- "This doujinshi contains a series of very cute stories involving Sirius and Remus acting as godparents to Harry. Sirius and Remus are also horny as all getout. There's no Yaoi, but it's certainly suggestive. There are some gag stories, such as the one where Harry interrupts Remus while he's sewing his robes, causing Remus to prick his finger on the needle and pass out at the sight of blood. In another tale, Harry runs to Sirius for comfort, and Remus decides to get in on the comforting as well. However, his version of comforting involves snogging Sirius, who places his hands over Harry's eyes as the two make out. Funny stuff, this. I only hope I can manage to get the first one, one of these days!"[4]
- "Despite the fact that a lot of the art is sketchy in this doujinshi, the comic makes me giggle every time I look at it. The interactions between Sirius, Lupin and Harry are brilliant. Sirius gets jealous when Lupin and Harry are close, something they know quite well. There's also a cute Ron/Harry story and several really nice illustrations. I particularly enjoy the illustration of Harry and Ron flying while singing the Aladdin song "Magic Carpet Ride" but singing "Magic Broom Ride" instead."[2]
- "A Harry Potter doujinshi with mostly shounen-ai gag stories where Harry is living with Sirius and Remus. At one point, Harry and Remus even plot together to send Sirius to Snape as an apology gift. ^_^"[5]
- "This book is quite "sketchy" but very nice to look at nonetheless, and is VERY cute ^_^ I adore the sequence where Lupin is coming on to Sirius while Harry is standing there, so Sirius covers his eyes and then returns Lupin's affection ^_~"[6]

Walking After Midnight
Walking After Midnight, subtitled The Moon Is Made of Green Cheese, contains 74 pages[7] and was published on February 11, 2003. It is a republication of material from The Moon Is Made of Green Cheese and The Moon Is Made of Green Cheese II and also contains 16 pages of a new comic.[8] It is all manga.
It contains an editor's note that the original drafts for The Moon Is Made of Green Cheese I and II were lost because the print shop went out of business.[9]
