Vulcan Consulate was an early Star Trek: TOS fan club.
Vera Heminger... keeps the gals in Vulcan Consulate active. When it appeared ST was doomed, they turned out en mass in costume (ST style) to picket the NBC studios [1]. Also, actively engaged in letter-writing contests to protest the new time slot given to ST. They are also active in VOICE, and organization protesting the TV-rating system which oftentimes seems so unfair and doesn't reflect viewing of the average person. Vera has also started a campaign of writing to the president and Betty Furness demanding that they re-open the 1963 hearings on Nielson ratings. [2]
Activities
- Voice, a 1968 fan organization created to challenge the stranglehold Nielson Ratings had over television content
- letter writing campaigns
- protest marches against NBC, which likely generated California, Here We Come! or The Vulcan Consulate is Alive and Hiding Out at Paramount Studios by Mildered Torgerson and Toni Gourd
- possibly the zine Cry
