Vi, played by Felicia Day, was one of the Potential Slayers introduced during Buffy season 7.
Canon
Vi initially seemed timid and was notable mainly for her woolly caps, but survived the final battle at the end of BtVS S7. In the S8 comics she helped Andrew Wells produce an infomercial for new Slayers describing the new Watchers' Council. Later she leads the New York Slayer squadron.
Fannish Opinion
Vi is a popular character; her slightly quirky behavior and hats made her stand out from the other Potentials, without the negative connotations ascribed to the other prominent newcomer, Kennedy. Felicia Day's subsequent success in other roles is also probably a factor in her popularity, especially in crossovers with e.g. Eureka and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. She is rarely shown in a relationship. Because Felicia Day likes board games, role playing games etc (as portrayed in her series The Guild) and appears on other games-related shows such as Wil Wheaton's Tabletop, Vi is occasionally depicted with similar interests.
