I started my fannish journey in high school, with an awkward anime/manga phase, and later refined and matured my interests. (Which is to say, I was awkward, not the anime/manga fandoms as a whole.) Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon and the people I met through that fandom saved me from the depths of despair during a rough patch in my life. I am always amazed by the wonderful, geeky, and intelligent people I meet through fandom.

My main fandom right now is Stargate: Atlantis, with a side of Merlin.

• Adventures in aca-fandom: I wrote a term paper on the Audiofic Archive in December 2008. I am currently writing a paper on Fanlore as a community of practice.
