Tyger, Tyger is an 87-page slash Tris/Alex novel by Nansi Loser and Nancy Arena.
It is a "one shot zine novella set in an alternate Paradox universe where Tris and Alex are vampires. Recounts Alex Logan's intro into the Band etc. Offshoot universe with the author's permission, of For All the Gods Departed... Xerox, no frills. 87 pages. $5.00." [1]
Connections to Another Story
From the editorial of Hauntings and Others (1992):
[The story]: So Few Ever Notice: A bit of background is due on this one. In 1987, Nancy Arena and I wrote and published a novella called TYGER TYGER, which told the story of a rock group called Matrix, who just happen to be vampires, and their brand new lead singer, Alex Logan — an initially very confused — though appealing — human being. This is an alternate Tris/Alex universe — with Nancy A's permission, I started spinning this tale of vampire musicians based on her original characters of Tris and Alex, then added the rest of the band on my own. She got intrigued by the story and, as I said, we ended up co-writing the TYGER TYGER novella. TYGER TYGER got Tris and Alex very much together, but bassist Nigel Porter was falling apart and his relationship with second lead guitarist, Marco Serrafano, was strained, at best. I've had a lot of people ask, over the years, "WHAT HAPPENED WITH NIGEL AND MARCO? ARE YOU GONNA' WRITE A SEQUEL OR WHAT?" Well, SO FEW EVER NOTICE isn't the whole of the sequel to TYGER TYGER, but it turned into a definite precursor to one, and it does, at least, give the start of the answer to the question: "What happened to Marco & Nigel?' (To answer another question I get a lot — yes, copies of TYGER TYGER are still available/it's never gone out of print.)
Fan Comments
Re the scene you mentioned in Tyger/Tyger — I love that scene, but think that it needs to be at least twice as long (no secret there, I thought the whole story needed to be twice as long). Alex jumped to conclusions about the peril to the integrity of his thoughts, etc. without any basis. I'd have liked to sense, through Alex, Gabriel's threat to his mind as well as his life. Arrgh.
