Reactions and Reviews
This is the perfect story for a bad day, when you need something warm and cuddly to cheer you up. It’s very short (only five pages), and there’s not much of a plot, but those five pages are filled with wonderful words, passion and the laziness of a perfect morning after a perfect STI-Reunion. Just a beautiful moment in time, caught on paper for us by a very fine author. [1]
I must say, I have a great admiration for those among us who tend to either write poetry or very short stories. To be able to generate an emotional impact on the reader in a format that by necessity limits the number of words one can use is something I doubt I could ever do.In this author's case, she is able to do both and do them very, very well. This story is a typical example. As someone who knows this author personally, I can say with assurance that her absolute favorite timeline when it comes to K/S is ST:TMP. Thus it is no surprise that she chooses that setting for this story. Here this tale is told from Kirk's POV as he and Spock meet in Kirk's cabin after the crisis with V'Ger is resolved. What follows is a very sweet, gentle coming together of these two extraordinary men as they heal the wounds caused by their long separation.
Despite the fact that this story is only five pages long, it is complete in every way and in my opinion, is one of this author's best works. [2]
A perfect title for this short story in First Time 55, as it spans the 24 hours immediately following the resolution of the V’ger crisis. At last Kirk and Spock reveal their feelings for each other and they make love. A simple plot, but so nicely done in this author’s talented hands. There is so much feeling in this short work, and the sex is loving and erotic. A definite must-read. [3]
This is after Vger in ST: TMP. There is not much to this story (it's only 5 pages) but it is a very pleasant read. [4]
This is an exceptionally warm and loving account of the first 24 hours after the Vger crisis ends. Taking her cues from the sickbay scene and Spock's tearful revelation on the bridge, Helen generously fills in the blanks. She has obviously considered this part of their lives at length, it shows in her understanding of her characters at this precarious time in their lives. We are treated to a gentle coming together, loving confessions of what the years apart have taught them and cautiously offered hope for the future. Acceptance of each other is inevitable and very fulfilling. There is nothing contrived here, just their "simple feelings" being fully expressed at last. I enjoyed the content and the crisp writing style used here, they fit together perfectly. [5]
