Treasure Planet is an animated feature film released by Walt Disney Pictures in 2002. It is a science fiction adaption of Robert Louis Stevenson's 1883 novel Treasure Island.

Canon

On the planet Montressor, young Jim Hawkins is enchanted by stories of the legendary space pirate Captain Nathaniel Flint and his ability to appear from out of nowhere, raid passing ships, and disappear in order to hide the loot on the mysterious "Treasure Planet". 12 years later, Jim has grown into an aloof and isolated troublemaker due to his father abandoning him. He reluctantly helps his mother Sarah run the family's Benbow Inn, and derives amusement from "Alponian solar cruising": skysurfing atop a rocket-powered sailboard.

But after a spaceship crashes near the inn the dying pilot, Billy Bones, gives Jim a sphere and tells him to "beware the cyborg", a gang of pirates raid and burn the inn. Discovering that the sphere is a holographic projector containing a star map, Jim leading to the location of Treasure Planet. With the help of their dog-like friend Dr. Delbert Doppler flee, the feline Captain Amelia and B.E.N. an abandoned navigational robot who has lost his primary memory and invites them to his home for shelter they go on a journey with great dangers through space, in search of the Treasure Planet.
