Deathmask, Shura and Aphrodite are three Gold Saints from the Saint Seiya series. They seem to have a closer relationship between them compared to the rest of the Gold Saints, as they have similar ages, being a few years younger than Saga and Aiolos and a few years older than the rest of the gold saints. In Japan they are called nenchuugumi (年中組), meaning "mid-year group", also highlighting they are in-between Saga and Aiolos and all the others.
Fans also associate them together because of their antagonistic role in the original manga. They were the only ones who knew the true identity of the Pope as Gemini Saga, coming temporarily back to life together in the Hades Chapter along with other characters. They have scenes together in other Spin-offs and videogames of the franchise.
Fandom
Their friendship is sometimes extended to a romantic OT3, or ships featuring two of the three in different combinations. Still, even though not everyone ships them romantically, it is widely accepted in the fandom that they have a friendship of some sort.Most fans assume they started their training together, a few years before all the rest except for Saga and Aiolos, who are older. Many of their fanart representations have comedic overtones, with other being darker or gorier, given the fact that Deathmask and Aphrodite are quite ruthless with their enemies.
