Total Drama Pride Month Collab is an annual collab for Total Drama fandom hosted by pepbuttz. 100~ fanartists contribute, producing one fanart featuring a character of note from Total Drama's entire cast each. Total Drama's cast consists of 100~ characters total.

In celebration of Pride Month, every character featured has an associated queer headcanon, with the exception of Bowie and Raj, who are both canonically gay, but may also be drawn with additional queer headcanons. Artists featured primarily host their content on Instagram, Tumblr or both.

History

About the history, my first ever TD pride piece was from back in 2020. I wanted to incorporate the ideas of other Total Drama fans, so I held an Instagram poll asking my followers for their headcanons. This was towards the beginning of June, and I spent the rest of the month drawing the characters in a parade inspired setting to compose the final piece. It was a very important drawing to me, especially after seeing that many other TD fans felt the same way. It was posted to Instagram on June 28th, which is why I continue to post the finished collabs on the same day each year :) So in a way, the original piece was always meant to be a “collaborative” project, but the following year I wanted to give a bigger role to the fanbase. So, I held my first real collab, where artists could sign up to draw a character of their choice with their corresponding headcanon. (The idea of hosting this type of event was also inspired by @jaijiggles’ TD Christmas collab on Instagram, ^{Archived version}! I thought it would be a great opportunity for Total Drama fans to put their own voice into their art since queer themes have been very prominent throughout the fandom since the early days, and turns out I was right because I ended up getting a full cast and even had to expand the background just to fit everyone! 😭 Ever since then I’ve been so grateful that this has become an anticipated event, and the value it holds to some fans.

2021 was the first year for Total Drama Pride Month Collab. Advertisements for the collaboration were distributed solely on Instagram, though word-of-mouth spread the collaboration elsewhere, such as Tumblr. On Instagram, the completed fanart has over 1380 likes, while on Tumblr, it has over 395. Theses numbers are accurate as of October 2023. The original "master file" for this year's drawings has been lost, resulting in smaller-sized images as its final product compared to subsequent years. However, contributors' individual contributions were not effected by this loss.

2022 was the second year for Total Drama Pride Month Collab. The collaboration was advertised on Tumblr for the first time, and it was the first to have a theme. 2022's theme was, "marshmallows around a campfire." On Instagram, the completed fanart has over 1305 likes, while on Tumblr, it has over 210. Theses numbers are accurate as of October 2023. 2024 was the third year for Total Drama Pride Month Collab. This year was the first to include the cast of Total Drama: Island (2023). 2023's theme was "swimsuits at the beach."
