These Inconvenient Fireworks is a popular epic One Direction fanfic that was posted in 25 parts to a locked livejournal account in December 2012. The pairings are Harry/Louis and Liam/Zayn, with fifth-wheel Niall, a typical fic configuration at the time.

Authors' summary: Future AU in which nobody tries out for X Factor but the boys end up finding one other eventually anyway. Louis is a jaded bastard who owns a cat named Duchess and teaches drama to teenagers, Harry is an idealistic aspiring photographer/part-time footy coach, Zayn teaches English lit and wears leather jackets, Liam saves people from burning buildings, and Niall is Niall.

Fan Reactions/Reviews

On Goodreads, the fic got 549 ratings, with an average rating of 4.78 of 5 stars, and 62 reviews.

In my opinion, the Bible of Larry shippers, just above Room 317. The talent of the two writers is utterly astounding as These Inconvenient Fireworks is a humorous, touching, and emotional AU. There's no flaw in its many pages. Highly recommend it to anyone who loves Harry/Louis and the band as a whole.[1]

The Tumblr tag is full of enthusiastic reactions.

A Tumblr fan desperate for promised sequels/extras speculates about the origins and fates of the authors.[2]

Because most of the fandom is not on livejournal, a lot of discussion is actually about how to access a locked comm.[3]
