Reactions and Reviews
1994
Lovely, pared-down-to basics short story of Kirk's attending Soock's wedding and stopping it with his declaration of love. I found myself getting caught up in the powerful emotions that came from simple, direct dialogue. So when Spock says, 'There is nothing you have to say to me that could not have waited until after the ceremony," and Kirk answers, "I love you." it just swept me away. What could have taken pages, this author said in one and quite effectively, at that. [1]
This is a wonderful mood piece - very evocative. Kirk and McCoy attend Spock's wedding on Vulcan. Kirk is in turmoil, having finally admitted to himself he loves Spock.
A gorgeous moment during the ceremony. Kirk looks at the couple, and Spock is looking at him - an intense connection, and Kirk knows it's now or never. An excellent, larger - than - life scene when, scorning all of Vulcan's disapproval, he interrupts the wedding. Yeah!! Our captain, doing what he does best. Very enjoyable story. [2]
