The tapeworm post is a Dream SMP Tumblr post from 2020[1] that was widely unpopular. The original poster deactivated their blog not long after making it, but a Tumblr blog called the-tapeworm-post sprang up to archive it. The post was titled "dream smp boys react to you having a tapeworm" and listed out many of the Dream SMP creators' Minecraft skins and made-up quotes from them, in a Y/N or Reader-Insert style. This was not the first post of its kind—other fandoms had their own "tapeworm posts"—but it uniquely became an important part of DSMPblr's lore at the time, referenced with a frequency that expected every reader to already be familiar.
It read as follows:

The post was widely hated, but there was a surrounding culture of people reblogging it as a prank on their followers:

Eret's Discovery
When Eret, a Dream SMP creator, made a Tumblr account, many fans were alarmed. At the time, there was an expectation among MCYT fans on Tumblr that they were safe from the prying eyes of the creators they were fans of, unlike Twitter. One of the things fans immediately jumped to reference as a reason CCs shouldn't be browsing MCYTblr was the infamous tapeworm post. About a week after Eret joined, they posted this:
btw I’ve seen “the tapeworm post” you guys made it sound like it’s the worst thing ever to happen to this site, but it doesn’t come close LOLtheeretblr on Tumblr[5]
While some fans were embarrassed by their discovery, many took this as a sign that Eret understood what fandom was like and would be safe to have around in the community. This helped sway public opinion in favor of the Dream SMP content creators being "allowed" to make Tumblr accounts.
