The Prophecy of Apollo is a Kirk/Spock WIP by ladyblahblah.

Summary: AU, based on the Cupid and Psyche myth. How different would the world be if Surak's influence had never spread, if the Awakening had never happened, if Vulcans had never sought to control their emotions? It's the Federation, Jim, but not as we know it. Warlord Sarek's son has reached his Time and requires a mate. Who will brave the monster's lair?

Fanart

Rinse Away, by slanted_edges (2010). Illustration of a scene from the third chapter.

slanted_edges has created three pieces of fanart for the story.[1] The first one is I'm Good, an illustration of a scene from the third chapter. It has multiple panels like a page from a comic. The second one is Rinse Away which features a bathing scene that directly follows the previous drawing (Kirk is being prepared by several blind Vulcans for his mating with Spock). The last one is a sketchbook page featuring sketches of T'Pring and Uhura (especially awesome: Uhura and her knife). The different pieces of fanart are linked to under the header of part 3 of the The Prophecy of Apollo.[2] In addition to slanted_edges pictures there is fanart by other artists. In This Hidden Place by abadea shows Kirk as he makes his way through the desert city to reach Spock. What Have I Gotten Myself Into by zara2148 shows Kirk entering the dark room (Spock doesn't want to be seen therefore Kirk can only meet him in the dark). Sleeping Jim by nix_this shows a naked and exhausted Kirk in bed.

Recs and Reviews

I am maybe kinda totally squeeing over [The Prophecy of Apollo]. It's a retelling of the Psyche and Cupid myth (8D) in an AU setting where Vulcans never underwent the Surak Reformation (you know, where they became totally obsessed with emotional control). I love all of the characters in it, seriously, even the total bitch, but the story—the story's what really gets me. I adore how it's been done, with both a very gritty human side and a dreamlike mystic side, and it just . . . flows for me. It's damn good entertainment, I tell you.[1]

okay so this is seriously in my top five, and even though it is unfinished I still have re-read it like a bajillion times. It is so beautifully written, and just makes me believe that in any version of the Star Trek universe Kirk and Spock will always be together. That and it is a play on the greek myth of Cupid and Psyche, which cmon, can’t get much more awesome than that.[3]
