The Promise is a 118-page het Beauty and the Beast novel by A.V. Wilde.
It is a fantasy AU. In it, Catherine and Vincent share a dream about the consummation of their love and the conception of a child.
The flyer says it contains "adult situations -- but no age statement is required."
This zine won an award at Tunnel Con I. An ad in The Monthly claims it won a 1989 "Fan Q novel of the year" but the main Fan Q page does not list it.

Reactions and Reviews
"The Promise" [is] written in the present tense, which gives it a lyrical, mysterious feel, and might get annoying after awhile, lol. I haven't read but the first two pages, which are lovely. [1]
There was a variation in the print quality between the two zines owned by reviewers. One copy was very well printed while the other severely faded at the top of every page. Stream of consciousness writing and "three dot journalism" may interfere with appreciation of the story, is a beautiful story powerfully told.
