The Penny Paradox is a gen Buckaroo Banzai anthology.
Content Description
All stories that were written in the post-film world take into account that Rawhide is dead and do not try to resurrect him. Some stories that predate the film may have Rawhide in them.
From a distributor, Agent With Style:
Watch Team Banzai do battle with the evil Hanoi Xan! See Perfect Tommy dress in polyester! See Rawhide be put to rest! Follow Reno and New Jersey to a survival seminar in Peru! See Buckaroo help Kirk and Spock save the U.S. Space Program! And maybe find out why that watermelon is still there!
Note: Two pieces appear in a 1985 ad but are not in the finished zine; the recipe, at least, was incorporated into the second issue:
- Brushstroke by Bev Martin ("Reno gets a new assistant who quickly learns the ways of the Institute and shows she has a few tricks of her own. Plus: the recipe for Mongolian Lamb.")
- Hellfire Xan by Bev Martin ("Buckaroo and the Cavaliers in a vicious battle against Hanoi Xan and the evil Hellfire Club, aided by a group of uncanny mutants.")
Issue 1
The Penny Paradox 1 was published in 1986 and contains 98 pages.
The cover is by Bev Martin and Peggy Spaulding did the other art.
- Ashes to Ashes, Pt. 1 by Leni R. Sommer and Bev Martin ("Rawhide is laid to rest and the Institute must come to terms with his death. Also, Pecos meets Penny Priddy.") (7)
- A New Twist in the Paradox by Leni R. Sommer ("A new intern joins the institute, plagued by her past and under the spectre of Hanoi Xan's evil. Plus, learn Hungarian swear words.") (17)
