Reactions and Reviews

Quite a short story, your typical stranded in a cave scenario with the difference being that this one takes place shortly after STIV: The Voyage Home. Kirk and Spock on an unexplored planet; rain is pouring down and they’ve lost contact with the ship due to an ion story. The Captain is standing on his first officers shoulders peering into a very tiny cave high off the ground. He tells Spock to boost him up, which the first officer does, while reflecting that Kirk’s extra pounds had not been stripped away along with his rank. After managing to get Spock into the cave Kirk was bored and started having erotic fantasies. He moves closer to the Vulcan and says he feels cold. Spock tells him to put his uniform back on. The alien is quite unhappy about the fact that Kirk told him that although the new Enterprise had been equipped with the new sensors that weren’t affected by ion storms, Scotty had called them 'new fangled gadgets' and gotten rid of them.

Kirk starts having erotic fantasies because he's bored. He talks to Spock about having sex and after some initial reluctance Spock finally agrees to have sex with the Captain. ('Vulcans generally choose not to unless they are in pon-farr') He is frightened but does give in and things progress at a fairly rapid pace. 'Spock began to take up his Captains invitation eagerly. As he bared the human’s chest he was surprised to find it as well covered with hair as his own. He realized that he hadn't had occasion to see Kirk bare-chested lately' but he was sure that in the days of the five-year mission, when Kirk bared his chest at the slightest excuse, that chest had been smooth and hairless. Perhaps that changed when the captain's head hair changed from being blond and wavy to dark and curly he reflected idly. He made mental note to check up on such changes in humans."

This is a lightweight of a story but proved to be a pleasant diversion because of its background of taking place long after the first adventures are over.[1]
