The Long and Winding Road (Part 1, Part 2, Missing Scene). Mad scientists. Abductions. Unspeakable experiments. Clones. And, I dare hardly utter the dread words, male pregnancy, thankfully presented as the dark and horrifying thing it is. <g> Don't turn away in horror before you've given it a try. Trust me, Kassandra makes it work. Really.[1]
The Long and Winding Road by Kassandra is one of those rare things, a male pregnancy/baby fic that is good, and believable within the context of the X-Files universe.[3]

The fic I said couldn't, shouldn't, mustn't be written. And then whined, begged, pleaded, sold my soul for more of. M/K babyfic. And if you believe that description, then Aenima is songfic. Kass's stories are always a joy, with dead-on characterizations and outstanding plots, and this is no exception. And the smut--ooh la la! You'll squidge, you'll cry, you'll send Kass chockies and flowers and beg her never to stop.

"The Long and Winding Road" is the only babyfic I've ever enjoyed or felt worked, and it runs nothing like you'd expect it to. The really funny thing is that it was meant to be a parody of a Mulder/Scully Romance from that era but turned into something serious and heartfelt. Both are big, meaty, and satisfying, with the character and narrative work I expect and appreciate from Kassandra.[6]
2007
Mulder gets experimented by some dude who is experimenting with male pregnancy and clones. It's so much better than it sounds, and it's written in a really believable way, very IC Mulder who's dealing with the aftermath and Krycek who helps him go through it.[7]
2013
I absolutely hate mpreg fics. Hate. HATE. HATEThe idea makes me sick. But it wouldn't be fair to hate the mpreg fics if I haven't read any, I thought. So I went and read some. And you know what? I was right! Complete rubbish!
Except this one. The Long and Winding Road is exception to the rule. It's well written and it works in the X-Files universe.[8]
Okay, this is the dreaded babyfic. Remember, it was born from a desire to avenge everyone who read the MSR version. m/m slash.[9]
