The Kurz Curse is a bit of metafic by Susan.

It was published in the first issue of Hanky Panky (1982).

In this vignette, Minnie Kaplan (a character from Starsky & Hutch) gets a crick in her neck due to looking over her shoulder as she uses the office photocopier to copy a Harry/Johnny story.

See other fan comments about utilizing the office photocopier for fanworks.

Kurz' Own Comments

From Ruth Kurz, creator of the Harry/Johnny universe:

Being found with slash in your possession by mundanes of any kind is always a bit embarrassing. The police and post office seem to get uptight about a lot of things, whether they are illegal or not. Yes, I was a cop and if I had been the one to find it I would have chuckled, but perhaps I am the exception. When H/J was in its prime, one reader wrote a very cute vignette called The Kurz Curse. It was about someone trying to xerox H/J zines on the company copier, and suffering a crick in the neck from looking over her shoulder to see if anyone was watching. And SHE was a cop.[1]

[An homage to] the "I got caught with my slash in sight" problem so many of us have faced over the years. Back in the H/J days a story was written called "The Kurz Curse" where Minnie in SH fandom got caught at the xerox machine copying an H/J story. It typified the awkward moments we've all suffered.
