The End of the Cold War is a Mulder/Krycek story by Kadru.

Ok, not exactly a new story, but one I think deserves some attention. I loved it when it first came out and still do. It is a story about coming in out of the cold and trying to forgive someone and be forgiven. I love how M/K just can't seem to resist one another in this one, even though it isn't always wise. This is a 'post-colonization we won and chased the alien bastards back' story. In it Krycek is in a bad way and Mulder helps him even though he doesn't really want to think about why. In a way he just can't stand to see Krycek like that and wants to ease his conscious by helping him. Some part of him feels Krycek deserves nothing less and he hates that voice, so he succumbs and helps him. Along the way he figures out why he really helped him. This story doesn't have any of that 'Suddenly Gay' crap in it or any of the 'I love you, let's fuck' stuff. It is a slow tease that naturally progresses it's way into a loving and trusting relationship. Giving everyone time to figure out what they want to do, if they want to pursue this, sort through conflicting feelings, and get over past betrayls. I think that is one of the best things about this one. It doesn't leave a whole lot undone. It gets them through every thing. A great read and damn, there is a masturbation scene in a shower that nearly singed off my eyebrows. Kadru also wrote a great Due South story called The Sea Wolf that I rec'd over on that page. Three years after the fall of the Consortium Alex Krycek has hit rock bottom. Mulder finds him near death. Can he forgive the his ex-lover for past betrayals? After Krycek gets back on his feet, the story of his courtship of Mulder is sweet and hot.[2]
The love-scene in this story made me wish that I was a man with a foreskin, just so I could have Mulder diddle it like Alex's. That love scene will go in my permanent top 5, for sure. I was really drooling over the imagery in the story alone, though. I mean, that scene with Alex in the snow.... pure poetry (it kinda reminded me of Cowboy Bebop: The Movie only with snow instead of psychedelic, glowing, golden butterflies). There were countless others. Mulder/Krycek *****+ (FAV)[3]
This one is more about the romance, no action, hurt/comfort. The war is over, and Krycek is sick, faints and then he's found by Mulder in front of his apartment building.[4]
