The publisher said in an ad in The Flight Log that "The Digital Times focuses on the adventures and questionable exploits of our favourite android brothers, Data and Lore, and their enigmatic creator, Doctor Noonian Soong."

"With the exception of its covers (which have been commercially colour-laser copied), all artwork was digitally scanned with a HP ScanDesk IIc and along with all other contents, EACH copy of THE DIGITAL TIMES was entirely produced on a HEWLETT PACKARD LaserJet 4MP printer."

Regarding the Zine's Title

The editor recounts seeing Brent Spiner at a SpinerCon in Chicago... and what was on his wrist:

There it was, strapped to his left wrist. Black, chunky, probably a TIMEX...

...digital!!

Time stood still for a commercial break as a stupid expression doubtlessly plastered itself across my face and those above mentioned words echoed inside my head.

The Universe had come together for me. My day was made. It was true.

His "timing" was "DIGITAL"!!

And a zine title was born...

By the way, for those of you who may be interested, this is my "I have a need to publish" phase I'm going through. Remember, you have been warned! So, humour me for a few more lines -- I promise, the next eighty or so pages after this are much more enthralling.

As to the rest of you poor unsuspecting souls, welcome to the premier issue of

The DIGITAL TIMES!!

So folks, it's time now to switch on the VCR, get comfy in your tubs, and turn the page.

May you ENJOY!

Reactions and Reviews

I just today received a copy of The Digital Times. WHAT a beautiful zine. I haven't started reading it yet, but I've flipped through... and flipped out! I have to watch my money these days (oh Gosh... who doesn't??) and I'm trying to be discerning about the zines I order, especially if they come from abroad... sigh... so when a gorgeous journal like TDT or TBE flops through my letterbox, my heart sings like a lark.
