An anthology of original stories, some plunging Vincent and Catherine into danger and adventure - others steering them into gentler albeit equally emotional waters, whilst all the while preserving the atmosphere of the TV show and exploring the most touching love story the screen has unfolded.

New, longer stories of Vincent and Catherine - no 3rd season - some full of danger and excitement; others traumatic and emotional waters. All are romantic and sensual - some bring a tear to your eye; others a smile.

  • Hearts of Fire ("When one of the most feared situations manifests itself Below, Vincent places himself in deadly peril to save Father.") (reprinted in Of Things That are Not but Should Be) (1)
  • Fairytale Weekend ("Catherine plans a break with Vincent at a country hotel which specialises in theme weekends. Everything seems to be perfect...") (15)
  • The Cup That Cheers ("Father's birthday celebrations have an unusual effect on Vincent.") (35)
  • Deadly Intent ("When Vincent's natural compassion and caring nature is misconstrued by a mentally unbalanced women, his rejection of her almost costs him his life.") (46)
  • He Ain't Heavy ("When Devin returns to the Tunnels with sad news, Vincent's pleasure at seeing his brother again soon turns to heartache and pain for himself.") (78)
  • A Visit to the Dentist ("When a raging toothache forces Vincent to have dental treatment, he experiences a dream while under anesthetic and Catherine is reminded of the power of the bond.") (101)
  • A Guilt Too Great ("In Catherine's nightmare, she is responsible for Vincent's death. How will she cope with the guilt when fact threatens to imitate fantasy, ans she is forced to admit that she is the biggest threat to his safety?") (112)

From the editorial:

Welcome to CANDLELIGHT 3: LOVE: & LYRICS. This time, every story has a theme inspired by its title...a well known song.

I haven't mentioned the recording artists, since most of you will associate a particular one with each song anyway and my selection may have been different from yours. The point is that each story reflects its title...and, with the exception of 'Don't Rock tho Boat', these are love songs.

Again, all stories are in the Classic vein - no third season. This is not because I didn't enjoy the third season...I did, very much - but I believe all of us want to read about the love between Vincent and Catherine, and while I, personally, will take Vincent any way I can get him, I have no desire to upset anyone: we all love the show and want it back. Therefore, we must all work together to see that we get it. The 'powers that be' underestimated the power of the people once before and were astonished at our unity - let's pray they will be again.

  • Fool If You Think It's Over ("When Catherine meet's Joe's brother, she feels an attraction which Vincent totally misconstrues, causing pain for both of them.") (1)
  • Don't Rock the Boat ("Catherine wants to do something for Vincent's birthday which he will NEVER forget ... her wish comes true but not quite in the way she intended...") (17)
  • Help Me Make It Through the Night ("Every time Vincent is forced to kill, it destroys a part of him and Catherine resolves to help him through the latest trauma.") (31)
  • You Light Up Life ("A man with a grudge against Vincent pulls a callous stunt, sending Catherine into danger and forcing Vincent to acknowledge his blessings.") (42)
  • It Started With a Kiss ("What really happened after that touching scene in "A Kingdom by the Sea"?) (58)
  • If You Leave Me Now ("When Catherine's life is threatened by anonymous telephone calls, Vincent's intervention injures Joe and threatens to destroy his relationship with Catherine.") (61)
  • When I Need You ("One night, Vincent rescues a man from thugs, but his act of kindness leads to unexpected bitter resentment, sickness, reconciliation and love.") (82)

Reactions and Reviews: Issue 3

This is Vol. 3 of the series. There are 7 stories. In "Fool If You Think It's Over, " Vincent misunderstands the attraction Catherine feels for another man. Catherine's birthday surprise goes awry in" Don't Rock the Boat." Several stories focus on Vincent and Catherine's physical relationship. [1]
